Milani Blush Arrives in the UK

I couldn’t believe it when I got an email from Beauty Crowd that they now stocked Milani Cosmetics! Milani is a favourite with bloggers especially the baked blushers but have previously only been available in the US. Well they are here now and that makes me happy!

So of course I had to get the baked blushers – I got three! Berry Amore (bottom left), Bellissimo Bronze (top left) and Rose D’Oro (right) (£8 each). These blushers have a lot of shimmer and highlight so are very difficult to photograph on the skin as they can be surprisingly subtle on my darker skin (unless I really layer it on!).

For the photos below of Berry Amore on my face I did have to apply it quite heavily so it would show on film. I have to say Berry Amore is my favourite as it is very easy to wear and has the perfect amount of colour and highlight. They are all beautiful and so worth the price.

I also grabbed myself an Illuminating Face Powder in Amber Nectar (£8). This is a lovely subtle “glow from within” powder. The texture is very fine and the swirled through the mix of colours really works to enhance my complexion. This is not too heavy on the shimmer so works really well as a finishing powder.

It is so pretty I almost didn’t want to use it!

You can just about see the highlight effect below but I have really piled it on to be able to show it.

So Milani is a huge hit for me. I love the products I bought and they are definitely wallet friendly prices. What to get next..??

Forever 21 – summer and workout haul

I do love Forever 21 for a bit of affordable fashion, but I also recently discovered their active wear range is also really good. So here is what I got in my latest Forever 21 haul!

You can’t beat a simple summer dress and I love this floral midi one (£18). It has buttons all the way from the top to the bottom and is really comfortable and flattering.

Next I picked up this midi denim skirt (£22). I love the shape and length of this.

Finally I picked up two pairs of leggings,  one full length (£18) and one cropped (£15) to wear for hot yoga.

Culottes anyone?!

These culottes are just ah-ma-zing or is that just my opinion? Culottes are one of those love or hate things and I always thought I was firmly in the hate camp – well no more! These beauties are from H&M Conscious Collection (£29.99).

IMG_5611

I don’t know why bit these make me so happy when I wear them, like I am lying on a palm beach in Asia…?!

IMG_5613

Love them with a simple black vest or a light knit (both also from H&M).

So do you love or hate..?

Miu Miu Sunglasses

I’ve been wanting a pair of Miu Miu sunglasses for ages and so when John Lewis did a 20% off offer I grabbed myself a pair. These are the badly named (!) Oversize Square Frame Metal Arm Sunglasses in Brown/Gold (usually £205).

These for me are a classic as the dark tortoiseshell will work year after year.

IMG_5360

I think oversized fit is perfect for my face shape and really makes them a statement piece.

I love them!

Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser

I have been wanting to try Boscia cleansers for a while so when I was last in Malaysia I picked this one up in Sephora. Its the Detoxifying Black Cleanser (about $28). Boscia products are 100% preservateive free so don’t have parabens or sulphates. I was really intrigued by this cleanser as it heats up on contact with skin to open and de-clog pores.

IMG_5212

It has a gel-like texture that turns into a light lather on contact with water. It says it can “dissolve oil and makeup, rinsing away pore-clogging surface debris, impurities, and excess oil”. I have to be honest I only use this in the morning as I prefer a hot cloth cleanse to remove my makeup. Having said that I really like this, the lather is not too much so my skin isn’t left tight and dry. I feel like the charcoal is good at removing excess oil, detoxifying and gently exfoliates without using harsh “scrubby bits”. Plus I like slight warming sensation and it smells good! So a pretty good purchase but not something I would rush to buy again.

L’Oreal Age Perfect Extraordinary Oil-Cream

I was browsing the skincare section in Boots and came across this L’Oreal day cream. At the time my skin was feeling really dry and dehydrated and just needing a boost. I was drawn to this because of the oil part, I love a good facial oil at night and an oil infused day cream sounded perfect!

IMG_5216

This is the Age Perfect Extraordinary Oil Cream (£14.99).  This cream in infused with Lavender and Rosemary essential oils. It smells incredible without being too heavy or perfumed.

IMG_5218

The texture is thick and creamy but not claggy. The cream absorbs so easily without leaving any greasy residue.

IMG_5219

There is something about this cream that really works for me, I find that when my skin is dry I and I apply this generously it works immediately leaving my skin feeling soft and silky. The effects also last and my skin is just as good last thing at night. If my skin is feeling oily I still use this as it doesn’t make me greasy. I am very impressed with this cream, given the price it really is worth it!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer

Oh my… when I saw this I literally swooned. It is is pretty and thats even before you apply it! Hourglass have done it again. This is the Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Radiant Bronze Light  (£42). You all know about the Lighting Powders and the Blushers (I have quite a few… see here and here and here!) so its of no great surprise that I was going to have to get my hands on the bronzer.

IMG_5300

This product is beautiful and subtle and just makes me look glowing and healthy. It is not dark enough to call a bronzer on my dark skin but is does warm my skin and of course give it that signature highlight.

IMG_5296

Its really hard to photograph this but in the picture above you can see the golden highlighting effect. This was applied heavily on my hand to be able to photograph it but as you may be able to see from the pictures it is so pretty on the skin and really does make me look sunkissed!

Body Shop Pomegranate Softening Cream Cleanser

Body Shop cleansers are some of the best I’ve tried especially the Chamomile Cleansing Butter and Oil. So when I saw this Pomegranate Softening Cream Cleanser (£11) I had to give it a try.

IMG_5220

As you can see it has the consistency of a light cream which is easy to use, but other than that the positives end there..

IMG_5221

I found this cream made my skin feel like its on fire, I am not kidding. I don’t have sensitive skin so that was a very surprising reaction. I was worried I was going to react to the product so I was quick to remove it with a warm washcloth. Thankfully I didn’t react so a few days later I thought I would try again in case my skin was just having an off day! No such luck, again with the burning. This time I carried on, massaged it in and used the washcloth to remove it. Although it took the majority of my makeup off my mascara was still visible and of course my skin felt sensitised and just not happy.

So all in all I am massively disappointed with this product. I think I’ll just stick with the Chamomile cleansers – or ask for a sample to try before I buy!

Loving a Light Summer Knit

I don’t know about you but I really love lightweight knitwear, especially fine knit jumpers. I think they are easy to wear, flattering and also add a bit of warmth to your summer wardrobe. I have picked three from H&M which I am currently loving.

As you can see I went for an off-white, a lovely soft pink and a dark grey marl (£12.99-£14.99).

IMG_5239

I usually wear the cream and pink ones with a tank top underneath as they are quite sheer. These tops are so versatile – worn here with mini and midi skirts and shorts, but they also look great with jeans or layered over dresses.
