My New Zoeva Brushes

I love my Zoeva Rose Golden brushes (see here). They are really good quality and very well priced. There were a few “essential” brushes that I felt I was missing from my entire brush collection – a denser foundation brush, a fan brush to apply highlighter and a contour brush. So I went back to Zoeva and got these three.

From left to right the Luxe Fan Brush 129 (£9.50), the Powder Polish Brush 107 (£14.95) and the Face Paint Brush Vegan 109v (£11.50).

The fan brush is perfection and makes the Charlotte Tilbury Bronze and Glow highlighter work like a dream. The powder polish brush is my perfect liquid foundation brush, I seem to use a lot less foundation to get a beautiful even cover. Finally the face paint brush is perfectly shaped to fit into the hollow of your cheeks and give you those razor sharp cheekbones! I love these brushes and know that I will be heading back to Zoeva in the future for more!

Gingerlily Silk Pillowcase

I have read loads of reviews of this – the Gingerlily Pure Silk Pillowcase (£39.00) so decided to give it a go. The main attraction of this is the skin and hair benefits the silk pillowcase is meant to give.

So this is what it says on the website:

“Sleeping on silk has long been recommended by leading dermatologists as an anti-aging tool. Less absorbent than cotton, silk helps skin retain its natural moisture; keeping it soft, supple and helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Silk also won’t soak up you night cream, allowing it to work more effectively, so giving you double the benefits!

A silk pillowcase can also cure the dreaded ‘bed-head’ hair. Because it contains the same naturally occurring proteins as hair, sleeping on a silk pillowcase will reduce friction and moisture loss, preventing hair from becoming dry and brittle; so you wake up with healthy, sleek and shiny hair.”

I have been using this for about 2 months now and I have to say I am really loving it. My skin has been behaving unusually well and I haven’t really changed anything else in my skincare regime. I have very very few breakouts and those I do get are very small and go very quickly. So I guess I could put it down to this?! My hair is not much different – I don’t think it makes a big difference to my morning bed head but that doesn’t bother me too much. If the skin improvement is all I get then it is definitely worth it. And I have to say that the silk is lovely to sleep on and does feel cool and well…silky!

Pretty Cardigans

I don’t know about you but I cannot live without my cardigans! They are so versatile and useful especially in the summer when the weather can cool quickly and you are left shivering in a summer dress! I have found three pretty cardigans to get me through the summer months and beyond.

The first is from New Look (£17.99). At first this just looks like a simple everyday cream cardigan.

Then you see the lace back! I love this its so chic and add something special to a simple dress.

Origins Calm to your Senses Stress Relieving Face Mask

I was drawn to this Origins Calm to Your Senses Stress Relieving Face Mask (£30) because it sounded like the perfect leave on night mask when I am in need of some stress therapy! This is a creamy facial mask which smells of soothing and calming Lavender and Chamomile. The mask is meant to target tense, clenched skin and is supposed to help release stressful looking lines and restore radiance.

As you can see it is a rich cream texture. I apply this after cleansing, just before bed and I absolutely love it. I find the smell is very soothing and makes me feel instantly relaxed. As the cream is very rich I only use a small amount and massage it in really well.

I have been using this quite often and my skin loves it. So not only does this do my skin good it also seems to help me feel relaxed and have a good nights sleep – perfect!

Makeup Revolution – Affordable Palette Heaven

Makeup Revolution is a game changer for those of us who just love a good palette but don’t want to spend a fortune. I literally stood in Superdrug for half an hour trying to decide which palettes I was going to get. There were so many that I liked it was a hard choice but I narrowed it down to two (for now!).

The first is the Ultra Flawless Palette with 32 eyeshadow shades! This costs £8 – I am not joking! The colour range is incredible and although each eyeshadow is quite small the pigment payoff is excellent so I can see this lasting a long while!

The reason I went for this palette is the mix of matte and shimmer shadows in a range of neutral shades. The matte neutrals are perfect for a day time look like Pure Chocolate, Smudge and Almost There. Whilst the deeper shades like Copper Shimmer, Molten Chocolate and Burgundy Nights are great for a smoky eye or night time look.

The quality is amazing and I love having a play with all the colours!

The second palette I wanted was a blush palette. This one is called Hot Spice and it was £6. Again these are very pigmented have a mix of shimmer and matte blushers, a baked blusher and a baked highlighter powder. The colours are beautiful and blend really well. I absolutely love this. I find that the colours really suit my darker skin and the highlighter (top right) is subtle but gorgeous.

Perfect Blue Skinny Jeans

I wanted a pair of smart skinny dark blue jeans that I could dress up or dress down and these from River Island fit the bill perfectly. They are the Dark Rinse Amelie Reform Jeans (£40).

IMG_4609

The jeans are made from a special fabric (Sanko Tekstil) that has 4 way stretch so it holds you in where you need it! Its a midi rise which I find the most flattering for my body shape. I got these in a 12 regular.
